L'Attaque des Titans

The Attack on Titan franchise (Shingeki no Kyojin in Japanese) was born in 2009 as a manga by Hajime Isayama, published in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen magazine. The story follows humanity, holed up behind colossal walls, the last bastion against man-eating Titans whose origin conceals a secret far vaster than expected.

The manga's success exploded with the 2013 anime adaptation by Wit Studio (then MAPPA for the final season), which propelled the series to the rank of a global phenomenon. Between brutal plot twists, geopolitical warfare disguised as a survival story, and reference-quality action animation with its omnidirectional mobility gear system, the work left a lasting mark on 2010s shōnen.

On the video game side, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force adapted the license as early as 2016 with Attack on Titan, followed by Attack on Titan 2 in 2018 and its Final Battle expansion. These titles translated into gameplay the sensation of flying between rooftops to slice the napes of Titans' necks, a risky technical gamble that worked out rather well with fans.

With Attack on Titan 3, announced for December 10, 2026, the video game saga attempts a synthesis: compiling the anime's entire story into a single game, with the Nine Titans playable for the first time. A concluding gamble arriving several years after the anime ended, but with nostalgia still intact.
