Honkai

The Honkai franchise was born in 2014 with Houkai Gakuen (renamed Guns GirlZ in the West), a mobile beat 'em up signed by miHoYo. A modest game at the time, but one that laid the foundations of a dense sci-fi fantasy universe, populated by "Honkai", destructive forces threatening humanity.

The real turning point came in 2016 with Honkai Impact 3rd, a 3D action RPG that broke records on mobile, especially in Asia. The title established HoYoverse's animated visual style, an ambitious serial narrative, and a fully embraced gacha model. It remains active to this day, regularly updated.

In 2023, Honkai: Star Rail marked a radical shift: real-time combat gave way to a turn-based RPG, in a space opera following Trailblazers aboard the Astral Express.

The franchise's impact on the industry is real: HoYoverse demonstrated that a gacha game could compete narratively with premium productions, all while generating colossal revenue. Star Rail continues to evolve, version after version - 4.4 being the latest illustration, with a Fate/stay Night collaboration that confirms the license's cross-media ambition.
