Born in 1996 on Super Nintendo under the Japanese title Bokujō Monogatari and conceived by Yasuhiro Wada, Harvest Moon is a historic farming and countryside life simulation series. From its beginnings, the concept stood out through its simplicity yet its hook: taking over an abandoned farm, cultivating its fields, raising animals, building relationships with the villagers and, often, starting a family. The license then multiplied its releases on Nintendo and PlayStation consoles, with notable entries such as Harvest Moon 64, Friends of Mineral Town or A Wonderful Life, which refined the gameplay loop and strengthened social bonds. Following the split between Natsume and Marvelous in 2014, Harvest Moon remained under Natsume's wing, while the original series continued under the name Story of Seasons in the West.
