Brain Jar Games, an American company located on the shores of the Bering Sea, is a recently founded independent studio (in 2024), dedicated to designing software for the rhythmic action sector. Brain Jar Games made a name for itself with Dead as Disco, a musical beat 'em up where every punch, every uppercut lands in time with the music, in the vein of Hi-Fi Rush, the beat 'em up Sifu, and the Batman Arkham trilogy of games.
This studio, as young as it is promising, raised $6.7 million in seed funding thanks to Transcend Fund, Menlo Ventures and 1up Ventures. Dead as Disco tells the story of Charlie Disco, a deceased drummer thirsting for a merciless revenge to avenge his ill-fated former employer Idols. A demo of the game has been downloadable on Steam since May 2025, and its early access is expected for May 5, 2026. The studio is self-publishing the game itself.
