About

SNK (Shin Nihon Kikaku) is a Japanese video game development company founded in 1978 in Osaka. A pioneer of arcade gaming and creator of the Neo Geo system in 1990, SNK left its mark on video game history, particularly in the fighting game genre. Following a bankruptcy in 2001, the company was bought out and relaunched under the name SNK Playmore before returning to its original name from 2016 onward.

Among its iconic franchises are "The King of Fighters" (crossover fighting game series that appeared in 1994), "Metal Slug" (cult run and gun with a unique graphic style), "Samurai Shodown" (weapon-based fighting game), "Fatal Fury" and "Art of Fighting". SNK continues to develop its historic licenses today.
