GungHo Online Entertainment is a Japanese publisher and developer based in Tokyo and founded in 1998, specializing in online, mobile, and console gaming. Initially focused on online auction services, it quickly moved into video games and managed to make a name for itself with the mobile game Puzzle & Dragons, one of Japan's biggest free-to-play successes. They also operate the Japanese servers of Ragnarok Online through their subsidiary Gravity and own several well-known studios, such as Game Arts, Acquire, and Grasshopper Manufacture, allowing them to include both RPGs and action games in their catalog. The publisher continues its international expansion today with subsidiaries such as GungHo Online Entertainment America and franchises like Ninjala and its sequel, Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet on Switch 2.
