Bohemia Interactive came into being in 1999 in Prague, under the impetus of Marek Španěl. Very quickly establishing itself as a benchmark for realistic military simulations, the studio's first achievement, Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis (2001), managed to shift an already realistic standard even further thanks to an immersive open world. Titles prized by hardcore tactics enthusiasts, all the more flourishing thanks to innovative modding, such as DayZ, the famous Arma 2 mod (standalone in 2018). Still independent, the Czechs are exploring contemporary myths in a dark fantasy version with Nailcrown, a boomer shooter set to release in 2026.
