Philips

Philips made its mark on gaming history with the launch of the Magnavox Odyssey in 1972, considered the first commercially released home video game console. Developed in Magnavox's laboratories in Fort Wayne, Indiana, under the direction of Ralph H. Baer, the Odyssey democratized access to video games by taking them out of laboratories and arcades and bringing them into living rooms. This innovation marked the beginning of an era where video games became accessible to everyone.

Philips also produced other gaming consoles and systems, notably the Philips CD-i, a multimedia console launched in the 1990s. Although the CD-i did not achieve the expected commercial success, Philips demonstrated its commitment to innovation in gaming. Philips' legacy in gaming remains significant, particularly for its founding role in creating the first home video game console.
