Coleco Industries, founded in 1932, became a major player in video games in the 1980s with the launch of the ColecoVision in 1982. This home console offered graphics and performance superior to its competitors at the time, notably the Atari 2600, and attracted developers with its advanced technical capabilities. The ColecoVision marked a generation of players with popular titles and a diverse game library.

Coleco also dominated the handheld gaming market with the Auto Race series and other handheld electronic games. However, the company was severely affected by the video game crash of 1983 and did not survive the market consolidation. Despite its disappearance, Coleco remains an important figure in gaming history, representing a period of innovation and intense competition in the console industry.
