The Sinking City

Dive into the suffocating world of The Sinking City, a Lovecraftian survival horror game from Frogwares, the Ukrainian studio behind the Sherlock Holmes adventures. Released in 2019, the first installment transposed H.P. Lovecraft's cosmic horrors into a flooded semi-open world, where investigation and madness lurk permanently around every corner.

The first The Sinking City follows private detective Charles W. Reed in Oakmont, a city devastated by supernatural flooding, populated by eldritch creatures. A remastered version under Unreal Engine 5 was recently released, available for free to owners of the original on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

The Sinking City 2, announced in 2024 during an Xbox Partner Preview and funded via Kickstarter in 2025, marks a real turning point. Planned for summer 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, it moves the action to Arkham in the 1920s, with an independent story. No more focus on investigation: pure survival horror takes over, with melee combat, resource gathering and a dynamic world altered by rising waters.
