Star Wars
The Star Wars saga is a cult science-fiction franchise created by George Lucas, which began with the release of Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope in theaters in 1977. Set in a galaxy far, far away, it presents the opposition between the light side of the Force (embodied by the Jedi), and the dark side (served by the Sith and the Galactic Empire).
It spans several millennia, from the Dawn of the Jedi to the era of the First Order, with defining eras such as the High Republic, the Clone Wars, and the Rebellion. The original trilogy (IV to VI) revolutionized cinema with its groundbreaking special effects, its icons (Yoda, Chewbacca), and its mythic story centered on Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia. The prequels (I to III) narrate the rise of Anakin Skywalker toward becoming Darth Vader, culminating in Order 66 and the fall of the Jedi. The sequel trilogy (VII to IX) revives the saga with Rey, Kylo Ren, and the conclusion of the Skywalker lineage.
In addition to the nine main films, the canon is enriched by dozens of series (The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian), video games (Jedi: Fallen Order, Battlefront), and novels. Star Wars has sold more than 100 million toys and has influenced pop culture worldwide, generating billions of euros for Disney since 2012.
