Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball is a Japanese franchise created by Akira Toriyama and launched in 1984. Originally published in the manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump, Dragon Ball tells the story of Son Goku, an alien tasked with protecting Earth, in a universe blending martial arts, adventure and epic battles around the famous Dragon Balls: seven crystal balls with the power to grant wishes.
This phenomenal commercial success quickly spawned anime (with the series Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball GT), animated films (numerous feature films and featurettes), and a broad cultural footprint. It has also become a video game industry franchise, with more than 80 Dragon Ball-branded video games released since 1986, including the famous Budokai, Xenoverse, and Dragon Ball FighterZ series, tasked with extending this mythical universe into the interactive realm.
