Astroneer is one of the space exploration video game franchises that emerged in early access on PC and Xbox One in 2016, before fully releasing in 2019. It was created by the independent studio System Era Softworks and stands out notably for its colorful low poly aesthetic and its highly tactile approach to terraforming: everything is built in real time, from a simple improvised burrow to complex base systems on entire planets. With STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions, planned in early access on PC on June 11, 2026 and also announced for consoles, the franchise evolves its concept toward structured cooperative expeditions, led from the ESS Starseeker ship.
