Ace Combat is an aerial combat game series developed by Bandai Namco, which made its first steps on PlayStation in the 90s, and gradually became the go-to accessible series in terms of modern dogfighting. Halfway between simulation and arcade, the game leans close enough to arcade that within a few minutes you feel like a fighter pilot, but at the same time a real learning curve awaits, especially at higher difficulty levels.

Episodes such as Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, The Unsung War, or more recently Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown deeply marked players and their era, thanks to their staging, their generous soundtrack, and their surprisingly emotional writing for supersonic fighter jet games.

The series seems to be at a turning point with Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, which aims to focus on a more immersive cockpit view, life aboard an aging aircraft carrier, and a narrative centered on the daily lives of pilots between missions.
