Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen ("Sorcery") is a manga created by Gege Akutami, published since March 2018 in the Weekly Shônen Jump magazine by publisher Shueisha. The story follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who swallows a cursed finger belonging to Ryomen Sukuna, an ancestral curse nicknamed the "King of Curses", and finds himself thrown into the underground world of cursed exorcists alongside Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki and their mentor Satoru Gojo.

The series' success exploded with its anime adaptation by studio MAPPA in 2020, then with the "Shibuya Incident" arc, considered a major narrative turning point that permanently disrupts the balance between characters. The two films, including Jujutsu Kaisen 0 released in 2021, were a hit at the international box office and confirmed the franchise as one of the most profitable in contemporary manga, alongside One Piece or Demon Slayer.

In terms of the industry, Jujutsu Kaisen has established itself as a reference for the dark shônen genre, blending choreographed fights, a complex power system (cursed techniques and "Domain Expansions") and a tone more mature than the genre's average. Its influence extends well beyond manga and anime: merchandise, dedicated video games (Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash) and now crossovers in third-party games like PUBG: Battlegrounds, proof of its status as an essential license for reaching a young and engaged audience.
